Please contact your insurance company to find out about coverage and costs/co-pays for outpatient nutrition counseling as coverage for nutrition counseling is dependent on your plan and may have limits. The CPT codes for outpatient nutrition counseling are 97802 and 97803. Unfortunately, a referral from a physician for nutrition counseling does not mean the service is covered by insurance. As helpful as I want to be regarding insurance, I am not an expert in insurance billing.
If you do not have insurance coverage for nutrition counseling, I welcome out of pocket payers. Initial sessions range from $80-100 with follow up sessions ranging from $60-70 per session, out of pocket. I also offer sliding scale fees, depending on the needs of each client. Ultimately, I believe every person has the right to the help and care they need.
